There’s nothing graceful nor elegant with the attempted small blue 5″by 5″s this week. The simply trading out soft and hard pastels with the charcoal isn’t working. I knew the assumption was that the methods and stadegies for getting the value on the paper essentially wouldn’t be staying the same (still, I was hoping that magically it would be), but it’s turning out to be a very different process, one that so far frustrates my abilities. There’s charm there, but maybe try less pastel and instead add a midtone layer of watercolor.
